HPC's Mike Young and Andrew Allden taught the 5 hour curriculum at a Beginners Track & Field Clinic at Athletic Lab. Young taught sessions on Training Theory, Planning Training, Sprints, Hurdles, and Jumping Events. HPC Elite team member Eric Broadbent placed fourth in the USATF National Championships in the heptathlon with a club record score. Eric won 3 of the 7 events (60m, long jump, high jump) and set a lifetime best in the 60m Hurdle race. HPC Elite team member Carin Knight broke her existing club record in the high jump at the Vincent Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University. Carin's jump of 1.77m easily beat a strong field and bested her previous club record which was set just 2 weeks prior. Also in action were Eric Broadbent in the shot put, high jump, and pole vault and Anna Wilson in the pole vault. Broadbent took 2nd, 7th, and 10th in the high jump, pole vault, and shot put respectively. Wilson took 11th in the women's pole vault.Valentines Sale at HPC store

HPC Elite team member, Carin Knight, broke the existing club record in the high jump at the CNU Captain's Invitational in her first meet in an HPC Elite uniform. Her mark of 1.73m handily won the competition. HPC Elite's Eric Broadbent won the pentathlon at the Captain's Invitational at Christopher Newport University. Eric won 4 of 5 events with marks of 7.64 seconds in the 55m hurdles, 7.06m in the long jump, 13.25m in the shot put, 2.08m in the high jump, and 2:52.19 in the 1,000m. His final score was 4,056 which is the top mark in the U.S. for 2011. He won the competition handily and broke his own existing meet and facility record in the event from 2010 by over 200 points. HPC Elite's other multi-event athlete, Kelly Furr, was also in action at the Penn State National Invitational, scoring 3,028 in the women's pentathlon.Mike Young teaches USTFCCCA course in Clearwater, FL
