HPC's Mike Young and Andrew Allden instructed a USA Track & Field Coaches Education school in Charlotte, NC at Queens College. Allden taught the Philosophy & Ethics; and Endurance events curriculum. HPC's Mike Young will be instructing the very first Coaches Academy held by the USTFCCCA on Dec 3-4. The Track & Field Academy is a 15 hour course in the coaching of Track & Field. Certification by the USTFCCCA is granted for successfully completing the course and evaluation. The curriculum covers all key aspects of technical coaching. Each section is illustrated with pertinent, specific, animated video created specifically for this course, to enhance clarity and understanding. Topics included in the course are workout planning, administration of training, techniques, and teaching progressions for all commonly contested Track & Field events. HPC's Mike Young will be speaking at the USA Track & Field Podium Education Project Symposium on December 2nd, 2010. The Podium Education Project, PEP, is an annual High Performance Coaches Symposium which brings elite coaches and sport scientists together to review, and present some of the most cutting edge methodology and coaching practices in the world. It is designed to provide an exchange of knowledge between scientists, elite coaches of national team athletes, and podium level coaches who have achieved the status of developing a medal-winning athlete at the World Championships or Olympic level. HPC's Mike Young was in Las Vegas to present his research and give a coaching presentation for USA Track & Field. Mike presented his research on the shot put to the elite coaches and athletes at the USA Track & Field's Elite Throws summit and also gave a presentation on "Competition Phase Training for Elite Jumpers" at the USATF Elite Jumps summit. The Foundation Elite Athlete Grant Program contributes to the pursuit of world-class performances by American post-collegiate track and field athletes. In his first meet representing the HPC Elite team, high jumper Joe Kindred broke the club's existing high jump record. Jumping at the Super Track & Field Kawasaki meet in Kawasaki, Japan, Joe jumped 2.21m (~7'3") to take 4th in the competition.HPC Store adds two great new books!
