HPC Elite Team shatter multiple records at Kent Taylor Invite

The HPC Elite team was in action this weekend at the Kent Taylor Invitational at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Six team members were in action. Indoor team records by Alie Israel and Jade Ellis in the women's 60 meters and men's long jump highlighted the competition. Alie Israel broke her previous team record and personal best (7.38) in the 60 meters by turning in a 7.36 second time in the preliminary round. She followed up that performance with a 7.40 second run in the final to place 2nd behind Olympic gold medalist Chandra Sturrup. In his first meet representing HPC Elite, Jade Ellis opened his 2010 indoor campaign with 7.58 meter (24'10.5") performance in the long jump. This established a new indoor club record in the long jump.Nick Newman wasn't far behind Jade in the long jump with a best performance of 7.35 meters. Eric Broadbent opened his season with strong performances in the 60 meter hurdles (8.41 seconds); pole vault (4 meters); and shot put (12.61 meters). Pole vaulter-turned-multi-eventer, Kelly Furr, competed in the long jump (5.20 meters); shot put; and hurdles (9.42 seconds).
